Evening Star delayed?

I've just read in Steam Railway mag that the 92220 Evening Star is supposed to be moving to STEAM,the GWR at Swindon. It was set to travel out on the week starting the 25th of August, but we saw it at Shildon yesterday. I wonder if the plans are still afoot,I'd love to see it head out as its only up the road from me.

Yes, I agree. It would be great to see "Evening Star" out on the mainline again.
Here are a few photos that I took in the 1980's.

I saw the Evening Star at York on a special when I was about 13 on holiday. My Dad and I were 'copping' what we could at the end of the main down platform when in she rolled. What a sight!

I can remember being mesmerized by the smell and noise. I had been on steam trains before but to see one living and breathing on the mainline as a lad is something else.

A Policewoman was standing guard on the platform slope to stop trespassers onto the line, right next to the steam cocks, when the safety valve blew without warning. I have never to this day seen and adult leap for fear so high! She come down in a heap, lost her hat and composure and was helped up by the public....poor woman!

Wow, I should have looked at your pics first, ST, as you have a pic of her at York at about the right time, 1983! When I saw her she had stopped much, much further down the platform for some reason.

If anyone has any pics, I would be gobsmacked to see if I was in them!

I had a look at some of the other pictures and Absolutely Brilliant. Thank you. I can't remember the last time I saw Evening Star.

I saw Duchess of Sutherland steaming away from Ely and en route to Norwich yesterday.
