I was going to suggest that it was built by Davies & Metcalf, the builders of the V.O.R. locos, but on checking I found that they only ever built the two locos!

Regards, 62440. (My 1000th post)

This will sort it out for you, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalka-Shimla_Railway They're British built but not Swindon!

Interesting that the section on locomotives makes no mention of any diesels - though it has been completely diesel worked for many years now !

Yes probably now I come to think of it.

The locos no longer work? Thats a big shame, but repatriation.
Perhaps the designs for the VOR locos were copied? I should say that although they were built by Davies and Metcalfe they have been swindonised.

Congrats on your 1000th post.

I think they have one or two steam locos they occasionally use on specials.

Did you not see the Indian Hill Railways series on BBC earlier this year ? [All 3 programmes were excellent ]

Yes, great series. A great thing was that it was also about the people that work the lines and not just the steam.
