Matter of choice boys. One man's meat etc.
But I can go and stay in Fort William for a few nights and travel on The Jacobite morning and afternoon for that kind of money. And with the wife!!!

Actually I would love to go on some of these special trains Especially The Orient Express

BUT

there are a few considerations that being long-term sickness/un-employed has forced me to consider

A/ I only have £38 pounds a month disposable income
B/ I have to ensure I can access the train with my wheelchair (usually no problem with 48 hour notice)
C/ my wife has to be available to come with me as my "carer" in-case I am suddenly taken ill again so WE have to afford TWO tickets

But I do think that some companies do charge so much because they HAVE to make a BIG profit and they know that there are some people out there who have a large disposable income (Ask any one who sell lottery ticket who buys the most tickets answer Older people)

Your right it is a matter of choice and I could afford it if I really wanted to, but as you say I could enjoy much more with that sort of outlay. My wife and I could have a nice long week end in Llangollen enjoy a meal on a steam hauled loco in first class and still enjoy an evening down the pub!
I can still dream though! One day maybe!!!!
Cheers
Phil

Yes we went a bit off track with this one - your original thread seems to have got a little highjacked! Sorry for that.
Anyway glad you got the answers to your question
Best regards
