Call to limit rail freight speed (BBC News)

Tests on a rail line used by freight carriers to take coal to Longannet Power Station record high noise and vibration levels.

What do they expect. Houses have been next to railway lines for generations. Tough luck.

I don't think that attitude is acceptable in the 21st century especially when the residents had previously been assured that noise levels would be kept to a minimum during the night.

I agree with Swisstrains, but I agree with you too,

The problem on the NEW Alloa branch is that some of the houses have a railway to their front which has been there for o many years before the houses were built then you buy a house next to a railway 'you pays your money you take your chance', The railway to the rear has only just reopened, less than a year I think certinlay not much longer and the residents were assured that noise levels would be kept to a minnimum.

I have been in Stirling station as a loaded coal train has gone through and the trains are not doing the line speed through the station and the noise is horrendous thats before the vibration sets in.

I think the residents have a point
