Nuclear flask timings
I am new to the forum and wondered if anyone knows the days of operation and the timings for the flask trains to Sellafield. My in-laws live in Arnside and I am trying to photograph the train on Arnside bridge. I am only, generally, there some weekends. I have seen them through Preston a few years ago but it seems they allways travelled at night. Any help is appreciated

Nuclear flask train timings are not published for security reasons.

Quite right too I think !
I remember the Bo-Bo diesels that used to transport the flasks to Southminster (for Bradwell power station) in the late 60's / early 70's although I dont remember the locos in pairs like they seem to do now. One reason why that branch line was not closed. Philip. |

Thanks for your help, I will just make sure I have my camera every time I am in that vicinity. Security is obviously an issue with such a cargo but I don't think the timings are such a big secret. You may remember that BR tried to destroy a flask with a perfectly good 100mph Peak and failed!!
