saying a quich hello

I left London in 1959. Have resided since in N.Z. Was a keen trainspotter in the nineteen fifties - at Wood Green Station (now Alex. Palace?) and visted Palace Gates Station which was basically a 'sleepy hollow' alongside Wood Green at that time. A question if I may- one of my 'spotting' spots, was over the fence at Dagmar Road which overlooked where the line branched of to Bowes Park via an overbridge and the workshops (now Hitachi). Late fifties, there was a siding established that ran along that fence line of Dagmar Crescent. I revisited in 2004 and that siding had (long) gone, but what did it actually service back in the fifties? When they put that siding in, it became impracticable to continue using that spot to view comings and goings. Regards
