I had just been looking at Rugeley TV on Google Earth, just before 41225 posted, since I have never been there; thought I would wait for Phil to comment. The two pictures may not be related, the station buildings seem in better condition than the hotel. The hotel has clay tiles on the roof while the station has slate. Around Stoke on Trent the old buildings seem to have clay tiled roofs, obviously because of the pottery industry, and I think slate would have to be transported from Wales. Both locations have natural stone walling, and the station is prone to flooding. The writing on the windows could be “Smoke Room” or even “Stone Brewery,” I am told there was a Stone Brewery that had houses across Nottingham and Derbyshire. Frustrating isn’t it.
