Methley Village

Methley Village with a population of less than 500 at the time but supporting three stations by three different companies (L&Y, MR and Methley Joint).
Methley railway station was opened in 1841 by the North Midland Railway on it's line from Derby to Leeds. In 1950 British Railways renamed it Methley North and It closed in 1957.
The three Methley railway stations were Methley North (closed 1957), Methley Junction (closed 1943), Methley South (closed 1960). The original railway line through the village was built by the North Midland Railway in 1840, as part of the Derby to Leeds main line. This route now forms part of the Hallam (Leeds - Sheffield) and Pontefract Lines.
