Hello again Matt, there was a goods yard at Rainworth that was open till about 1965 might have been something to do with that, by the way have you seen the book "An Illustrated History of Mansfield's Railways" by Paul Anderson Jack Cupit there's a chapter in it about the Mansfield and Southwell line, quite a few photos too, no doubt Mansfield library will have a copy. I bought my copy some years ago and every time I read it it brings back a lot of happy memories of the 1950s and 60s, I've read it so many times it's falling apart.
