I agree that it is a compliment to the friendliness and huge pool of knowledge available that people come to our site to ask questions but I'm unable to suggest why they then disappear, never to be heard from again.
Having said that though, I was doing a bit of railway research recently and came across an interesting (non-railway) site where, to cut a long story short, I thought they'd appreciate seeing some photos of the town where I grew up. Indeed they said they would but I couldn't work out how to post photos on their site. Someone then told me how but the process of setting up an external account somewhere then doing heaven knows what to copy/link to it made me lose the will to live. I haven't been on the site since. At least on Railway Forum we keep things fairly simple.
