Post Hello! Writer doing research

Hello, rail enthusiasts!

Right up front, I'm going to admit my ignorance of all things involving rail. For this, I apologise, but I couldn't think of a better place to come to ask questions than a forum of experienced experts. So, thank you in advance for any help the community chooses to impart

About me:
I'm a novelist currently working on a project that takes place in Boston and New York around 1938. Transportation for my characters between these locales should be authentic to the time and place, but in the research I've done so far, I can't find the names of lines or the stops. While this isn't a major part of the narrative, all details are equally as important so I'd like to get them right.

How you can help:

Any information regarding Boston to New York travel by rail, anywhere between 1925 and 1938, would be helpful. This includes:

-Names of rail lines and their stops, connecting Boston (Bay Back Station) to Manhattan, in 1938.
-Companies operating in this area at this time.
-Titles and authors of books on the subject that might shed light on these questions.
-Anything else you think might be interesting or pertinent.

I know these are super niche questions but I'm really hoping someone can help me out. Thank you again, in advance, for any help. I very much appreciate it.

PS- I realize this may be the wrong place for my thread. If a moderator wishes to move it, that's okay with me
