I spent the afternoon giving the loco's a test run, and I've whittled the stud down to two.
Steam age running will be using the Hornby 'Terrier'. It needs a bit of running in, but it should be fine afterwards.
For diesel days, I'll be using the Bachman '08', which runs like a dream. Apart from a test run in the shop, it has never been out of the box. And yet after two years without turning a wheel, it runs at a barely perceptible crawl.
