Stockingford Station.

Ok, who remembers Stockingford Station AND loco shed in Nuneaton ?
It was situated a bit further "up the bank" from Nuneaton Abbey Street.

I remember Stockingford station and Engine shed. The shed was on the "Downside"behind the Station,if memory serves me right the allocation of loco's was very small but one of their jobs was the "banker" for Arley bank.It was a three road shed with a water tower alongside, which outlived the shed providing water to the water columns in the "Up side" sidings long after the closure of the shed.

As I mentioned before the station buildings at Abbey Street are still there or were in December last year.
You can just make them out if you go to Google maps

I can remember when Abbey Street was such a lovely little station.
Flower beds, swept platforms with whitened edges, and the faint smell of discinfectant where the station staff used to keep it nice and clean.

But like many other stations up and down the country....all gone now.
