Hello

Hi, looks baffling at the moment.

Registered as PJF because the next one up might be PhilF. Might not sound good.

I'm looking for someone who knows exactly when "Edwin Hulse" arrived at Bitton, which it appears to have done twice (1973). I was given some night pictures of the event several years ago...

Thanks.

Hi Phil. Welcome to the forum.

Please see the attached link: http://www.avonvalleyrailway.org/abo...lingstock.html
It would appear that Edwin Hulse arrived at the AVR in 1973 and restoration continued (having started elsewhere in 1972). During 1973 it spent three weeks at celebrations for the 600th anniversary of Bristol's Royal Charter, and work continued during this period away from the railway. It returned to the AVR after these 3 weeks where restoration was completed and first steaming took place in 1974.

Hope this helps,

Tony

Thanks Tony. The problem is, that I was given night photographs of the locomotive arriving, which we'd like to publish, but don't know which "arrival" it was, or exact dates. May have to publish (in AVR "Semaphore") with request for member's information on this mystery. Two long-serving members have given me different dates....

Best Wishes,

Philip
