A freight train will also be out on the line between Bury and Ramsbottom with various engines taking their turns on this throughout the event and for a supplement you will be able to brave the weather and ride in either the ‘Toad’ or ‘Queen Mary’ brake vans…

In addition we will also be making sure the engines clock up some miles and get around the railway as some will combine forces to double head and even bank some trains!

For more information please see the ELR website

Also in conjunction with the event, the 3P20 parcel group will running an evening photo shoot at the locomotive works as well a full day event on Monday 19 January - for more information please see the ELR website

Ive booked a place on the 17th to take part in a "behind the scenes" photo course! Should be different and something to look forward to.
All the best
Phil

Please note that due to the cancellation of the visit of BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212 due to the locomotive failing over the Christmas period at its home railway, ticket prices have now been reduced from Band A to Band B fares, saving over 10% in most places. If you have purchased tickets to the Winter Steam Gala in advance, please contact our Booking Office on 0161 764 7790, who will be happy to refund you the difference in ticket prices.

NEW FOR 2015 will be the operation of some trains to the Hopwood Ground Frame (the limit of ELR operation) beyond Heywood station. This is an exciting chance for some people to see a part of the line that is not normally accessible by timetabled trains.

A new guest loco has been announced - GWR 56XX Class No 5643, which is presumably heading back to the Furness Rly Trust at Preston after its long stint in the south.

The ticket prices are to remain at the reduced rate despite the addition of the guest.

It certainly looks an interesting line up, and with some locos facing south a bit more interest as far as I'm concerned

It'll be good I'm sure
Looking forward to it even if the weather is looking decidedly dodgy at this time!!
Cheers
Phil
