Help Needed! Need to find an engine

Hello,

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give. I don't know very much about model railways or real ones for that matter.

My father is very ill and all he is asking from me at the moment is to replace an engine he lost, I don't know much except:

1. It is a GWR locomotive
2. Think it has number 1571 on the side
3. It has no name.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to locate a model - it doesnt have to be a working model as he just wants to look at it.

Although there isnt one on here with that number, this is a similar type of engine I believe, perhaps you could show the pictures to your dad?

Good Luck

Just had a look through my ABC of 1959 and there is no engine listed with the number 1571. Was it a tank or tender engine?

It was a 19th century saddle tank that was converted in 1918 to pannier, probably like the older hornby model with no cab. Withdrawn 1931

Best wishes,

Can I just say thanks to everyone for replying and trying to help.

The sad news is Dad passed away on friday, but at least he seemed happy about his train. I brought a little model from his house and he said that it was the one he wanted - I think he had got quite confused.

It was a pannier ( I think! - square body type thing ) GWR engine with a number actually something like 4402ish. So I think I sent you guys on a goose chase.

I do appreciate your responses, thanks very much.

Stew
