Long Marston

Hello

I am new to this forum, I am Ruth and am a Director of Motorail Logistics who operate the railway at Long Marston.

I thought that some of you might be interested to know that we are open on Saturday 9th June for a charity fundraising day with SBRS. We will be operating train rides in the TA owned DMU set, Class 73 cab experience, the TA will be on site undertaking an engine swap in our workshops, we have a huge display of Class 86 and Class 87 locomotives, too many other vehicles to list, railwayana stalls, refreshments etc etc. Oh, there should also be some visiting FOC locomotives too!

We are open from 9-6 and it is £5 entrance for adults and £2.50 for children. We are raising funds for the Railway Children and Vale Wildlife Trust.

Hope to see you there

Ruth

Hi Ruth, welcome to the forum. Great to have a railway service operator on here. Passenger Logistics is something I find really interesting (especially on the UK railway nework) and I am studying for a degree in logistics later this year, hoping to operate a railway service in the future.

The only Long Marston I know is the one on the Aylesbury branch (from Cheddington on the LNWR main line). The terminus station at Aylesbury was Aylesbury High Street. The line was the first one to Aylesbury (1838). The last trains in there were freights worked by Bletchley Standard class 4 4-6-0s. But I digress . . . .

Welcome to the forum Ruth.

Unfortunately I can't make it on the 9th but hopefully there will be other open days in the future.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
