Then they're hardly archaeologists, are they ? A true academic would love the challenge and look to test your evidence; either supporting it or showing it to be incorrect.

Just a thought from the other point of view.
Would there be any possibility that the rails were planned at some time in the past to create a "Cattle Grid"? Does the location were they were found lend itself to that?
I think, however, that they would be too lightweight for that and BH rail is better for that purpose.
