14th-15th July: A weekend of two halves!

Two days, two locations very different:

Saturday at the Great Central Warm and sunny.
Sunday Barrow Hill Shed: Class 20 gala: Cold and wet.

Two great days.

At the Great Central I managed a good tour of the shed and will post photos to give some indication of progress on 30777 Sir Lamiel, 70013 Oliver Cromwell, Jinty 47406 and GNR N2 1744 (69523).

GCR only seem to have 3 locos in traffic: 8F, Standard Class 2 and GWR large prairie. The shed is very full of loco in various stages of repair, quite a few were in there when I first visited the shed in the mid 90's!

Barrow Hill was great with plenty to see including all the 20's and the Deltics and the Class 89. Then there were the steam engines hidden away, including recently arrived A2 Blue Peter, which was in the Deltic Shed, quite appropriate!

I am not a great Diesel Fan but I do like the 20's.

The trip to Hope Cement Works was great top and tailed with two Class 20 each end! Hope the photos will give a flavour of the day!

Best wishes,

John.

I had nice sunny weather on Saturday 14th at Barrow and nice sunny weather at the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway on Sunday 15th.

I agree with you John that the Barrow Hill gala was great especially seeing Blue Peter the second time and first in severn years. Shame you didn't have great weather on Sunday.
