Anyone getting the new Steam legends partworks?

My partner got the first one for me yesterday, The Mallard. Looks good! The normal price is pretty steep but the quality is good, and we are not hoping to get all of them. might hold out for Flying Scotsman and a few others though!

I too bought it, but only after going in a shop for a paper I wanted, when I spotted it on a rack. I also don't intend collecting them all at £8.99 every two weeks, but will be selective, and that includes 'Deltic'.

I've uploaded a photo of it.

Reading your comment about Mallard, reminded me of a letter to the editor in todays Daily Telegraph. The writer overheard a woman who had been persuaded by her family to visit the NRM at York. Not being overly interested in railways she was not impressed with exhibits, until she saw Mallard. " So futuristic " she said.

I sure Wish Mallard was. It is my all time Favourite since first seeing it at Clapham Transport Museum all those years ago.

April 1961. Easter holidays. Aged 13. We decided to visit for a first ever visit to York. Route Liverpool Lime Street - Leeds - York. Our d.m.u slowed down at Church Fenton in order to join the East Coast main line for the last few miles into York. Loooking out of the right hand windows we saw a "streak" at full belt with its train heading North. Unfortunately the train was too far away for us to distinguish the number. As soon as we got to York we enquired of the fraternity what was the last "streak" to pass through going North.
Mallard was the reply. This was my first A4 cop. A never to be forgotten experience.

When I worked on the Railway, I had Tremendous pleasure in carrying out Guard duties behind Union of South Africa during a Steam Weekend, held between Bishops Stortford and Ely. Oh what a wonderful time I had?

:):):)

I just love the streaks! Beautiful LNER locomotives.
Cheers
