Hi
I have just purchased a farish class 37 in EW&S livery, and want to add lighting to it, ... to run directionally and would like advice how to add it preferably using miniature led bulbs, my difficulty is how do i do it with the least disturbance to the chassis, also i would like to replace the couplings with microtrains couplers,it would be better if i had a diagram of the chassis to identify the attachment points for the bulbs, if any of you have converted it to microtrains couplers which set did you use as there is a range to choose from.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Nick.

Hi foghut,
I could fit a dcc chip i know as at the moment i am using a dc layout.

Well I don't have a model railway but I do have an interest in electronics. I believe that some DCC decoders have outputs for lighting that will change over with direction. It does of course require a fair degree of cutting/soldering, unless your loco has a DCC socket already.

I expect that you would have to convert the whole layout to DCC rather than just having a chipped loco on a DC system in order to benefit - go on splash out, you know you want to ;)

Hi Foghut,
DCC locos can be used on a dc layout but have a slight delay in moving off, i do have a dcc system its just setting it up as my ideal scenario would be to have a room just dedicated to my layout.

Yea I think you need to be using a DCC controller in order to benefit from the loco chip functions of swapping the head /tail lights, etc.
