John,
I don't know of a site specifically covering Arriva Trains Wales area but details of all rovers etc. available in the U.K. are here:

There is also the Tocyn Taith marketed by Gwynedd Council here:

I hope that I'll be forgiven for blatantly hijacking this thread, but have any of our members ever done a regional or All line railrover?
When I was a teenager, it was always the intention of me and my group of trainspotting mates to do an 'all liner'. Sadly, we never did. Most of our long distance spotting expeditions were done using the late lamented 'Merrymaker' services.
Do 'all line' tickets still exist?

Thanks John. I've been contemplating doing an all liner for a few weeks now. It wouldn't be until well after the old house move is completed, but it's something I'd like to consider. The only thing that really worries me is; would I be disappointed? I know at the back of my mind that I'm only thinking about an ALR as a pointless and futile attempt at recapturing my youth!

I know what you mean Trev. It probably would have been more interesting to have done it 25 years ago but I'm sure it's still worth doing. I don't think it's pointless or futile. I'm constantly on the lookout for ways to recapture my youth........admittedly, sometimes it does result in disappointment but very occasionally you hit on something that gives you a really nice feeling.:)

I'd probably end up kidding myself that it was all about doing some survey of the country like J.B. Priestley did. 'The UK Regions in the 21st Century'...well, it ain't been done yet!
Despite the lack of loco variety, I'm still thinking seriously about it though. I just have to (a) kid my mate to come along with me and (b) sweet talk the missus!

Some weeks ago, I was asked about a Regional/Area Rover Ticket that includes March, Cambridgeshire. Sadly, since Privatisation came in, these have simply vanished. You can get them for travel to Ely or Peterborough, but NOT between the two anymore.

You can buy "SystemOne" day, week or month rovers here in Manchester which are valid across the "GMPTE".
I've bought them a couple times and just had a nice little hop across the network. Not got round to "all liner" yet (though I have with Metrolink, not too hard a feat. :p)

Try this:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/promotions/rangers_and_rovers.html
I recently used this for info, I was a bit sceptical, since the info was dated 2004, but the cost & conditions were exactly the same when I purchased a "Coasts & Peaks 4 in 8 day Rover" costing £54.00. There IS a "Freedom of Wales 4 in 8 day Flexi Pass" available for £69.00, this includes 4 days worth of train travel + 8 days of bus travel in Wales over an 8 day period; Limits are Newport, Shotton, Chester, Crewe, Shrewsbury, Craven Arms, Hereford & Abergavenny.
Have a look at this site, it's got EVERYTHING you need to know, including (in most cases) maps of each rover area.
Hope this helps, Dave.

Good link, Dave.
A 7-day all line rover for £375. Now that's got me thinking.
Shame I have a day-job and would also need a 7-day pass from Mrs Shed Cat as well....which would no doubt cost me a bit more than £375 :(

With regard to my previous posting concerning Railrovers & the like, here's another useful ticket not mentioned in the link I suggested:
Southern DaySave.
This is for use on Southern Trains, which will get a chap between Southampton/Portsmouth to Hastings & Ashford, Chichester, Uckfield & Brighton to Victoria/London Bridge, and lots in between. It's only available if you are registered with Southern (free), and also only available online. Here's the good bit: it only costs £10! (It would cost me over £28 for the cheapest day return to London from Portsmouth).
The link to Southern's website is:
https://www.southernrailway.com/index.php
Here's the conditions:
Southern DaySave costs just £10 per adult, or in a group (valid for up to four passengers who must travel together) DaySave costs just £20
Accompanied children travel for only £1 each (maximum 4 children per paying adult or group ticket)
Southern DaySave is only available online and must be purchased a minimum of 7 days before travel
During seasonal holiday periods, tickets may have to be purchased a minimum of 14 days before travel
If booking from outside of the UK tickets must be purchased a minimum of 14 days before travel
Southern DaySave offers you unlimited off-peak travel on Southern services on the day validity, subject to the following restrictions.
DaySave can be used as follows:
- Anytime on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays
- Not before 10:00 Monday to Friday
- Not between 16:45 and 19:15 Monday to Friday from London stations (Victoria, London Bridge and Clapham Junction)
- Not valid from London Waterloo or north of London Bridge
Group tickets are valid for up to four people (adults or children) who must travel together at all times.
Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
Please note: Your transaction is only complete once you have received a confirmation email.
Another good loophole (for me, at any rate) for travel to London (from Portsmouth) is: instead of buying a day return to Waterloo, a day return to London Zone 1 costs just £21. 70 (or thereabouts), and includes a one day travelcard for Zone 1. Also it can be used from 10.15am, earlier than the availability of a normal day return.
I hope this can be of further use to someone.
Dave.

Was considering doing an all line rover to redsicover some memories from my youth of bashing 87s but there are no longer any in service, instead the worst trains ever built in the pendolino:mad: That aside theres far too many DMU and EMUs on the best lines now to warrant purchasing one of these tickets, dont mind hsts and 91s but too many plastic trains on the network now.
